It is time for a New Season My Friends.
After a lot of deep thought and soul searching, I have decided that it is time for me to step back from these weekly updates. Please know the decision was/is very difficult and I appreciate your full support and understanding.....
Without going into the details, the blog up to this point has been an incredible vehicle for me to start my healing process; the writing and the comments / feedback. Unfortunately, that is changing a bit as I continue to move forward on this journey....
Please know that I am doing OK. My days are much brighter, I can laugh; I am even having some fun! Of course I am still grieving; I have many moments where the tears still flow.
Janelle was a beautiful woman of God. Her legacy will continue forever. As the person she was, as the person I am, as well as my children Britt and Ian and so many of you that she touched. I was a blessed man to have this lady for 31+ years and while I don’t understand (or agree) God’s plan, I do know that he is sovereign and his plan is perfect!
The blog will stay up indefinitely and I would encourage you to enjoy it in the days ahead. Starting at the beginning you get a glimpse into who & what Janelle Hayes was all about. That includes her crafts, her life (family & friends), her passion for children and of course most importantly you get a real dose of what was most important; her relationship with the Lord, which she regularly shared and encouraged/challenged anyone who had ears to listen.
Most of you know the timeline....April 2009 until December 2010, just a heavy dose of the above. We then moved into high gear through July 2011 planning and pulling off this thing called the Hayes-Freeman Wedding. Then starting in August 2011 we moved into the toughest part for me, the Cancer journey which contains the most powerful encouragement to others as she faced this bump in the road like only a person with complete trust and confidence in their Lord could. By the way, I am not sure I could or would be as strong!
I have openly provided everybody my contact information in these weekly updates and you are free to contact me anytime. I promise you that if you send me an email, you will get a response. As we conclude, I am re-posting Janelle’s first blog entry. I remember the days leading up to this very well. She was spending an enormous amount of time looking at other craft blogs. So much so, that I bought a laptop computer for her so the family one was available to me when I needed it. I remember the statement…”I am going to start a blog, it will only cost you $8.95 /month”. My reaction….a little smile, I think I probably rolled my eyes a bit as well.
What a great thing this has turned out to be….I hope you enjoy this initial blog post from April 9, 2009!

My first post. So — am I really going to be a blogger?! I have no idea where this little adventure will take me (and right now I don't even know what I'm doing!!), but I decided that it was time to take the plunge. Some of my friends have asked me what I'll blog about — and I guess I'll just do a little of everything in my life. I'm a preschool director by day, so I'm sure that will creep in from time to time. Gotta love preschoolers and their fresh perspective on the world! I've been insanely addicted to papercrafting for several months, reviving my dormant craft genes. Believe it or not, years ago I was even published a few times — so I decided to give it a whirl again recently and had one card picked up by Take Ten, which was pretty fun. My true identity lies in knowing Christ as my Savior, so — if anyone's reading this — you can probably expect a pretty steady dose of faith tossed in. Then there's daily life — my husband, our kids (all grown up now!), our dog, our neighborhood and city, our extended family and friends. Just ordinary stuff, I guess.
I plan to share photos of cards I've made, projects I've worked on, gifts I've given. . .and maybe someone will be inspired to give crafting a try. I find that when my hands are busy making something that my heart sings within me. Since I like to share, I've named my blog "Show and Tell." Show and Tell day at preschool is much anticipated. And I have felt much of that eagerness as I've thought about and planned for this day. When I was playing around with some stamps and papers earlier this week this series of cards just came together and I KNEW they would be perfect for my first post.

I was so happy you decided to continue Janelle's blog; it has helped me heal also. I was so inspired by Janelle - by the person she was, her tremendous love of the Lord, and the love she shared of her family, friends and work. Well my friend, i really feel this is the end of an era for me.Probably for you too.I was afraid of the moment i would stop reading the Show and tell blog, but i knew this moment was coming.Although i will miss it i m sure this is the right decision for you.It helped the process of healing for all of us but i can see that it is healthy for you to stop now.
So Ken, thank you for letting me be a part of this , it was a true honor for me.I will never forget what Janelle stood for and will always have you and your family deep in my heart and my prayers.

Thanks, Ken, for helping to create a bigger batch of memories of Janelle through your blog. Sometimes I find myself passing by and still am struck by the fact that Janelle is gone from this world. But, I always smile at the memories and am thankful to have so many personal ones from the neighborhood and Creative Memories.

Brighter days, laughing and having fun all seem to be very important to help you get through your grief. All is very understandable and very normal. Appreciated you continuing Janelle's blog as long as you did ~ mostly to satisfy those of us who knew her through blogland. She will always be missed, but I am thrilled that life is improving for you somewhat as you deserve to be happy…and I'm sure Janelle would want that for you. Take care, Ken!
