Hello blog friends of My Janelle. Today is Sunday – June 3, 2012.
Let me start off by thanking you for the continuation of the many emails as well as comments directly to these blog posts. Please fee the freedom to continue those activities as it certainly is an encouragement to me during this time and of course my ongoing gauge that posting every Sunday night is a good thing, something that you are interested in me continuing.
For a guy who thought all of this blog stuff was kind of weird, I find myself thinking ahead to a lot of subjects I can explore reviewing Janelle’s posts starting all the way back on April 9th, 2009 when she made her initial entry introducing herself to you and the Show and Tell blog. Since there are so many current items to talk about, I will save my commentary on her past posts for a future Sunday night.
It has been an OK week. I get daily telephone calls from my Daughter and my Mom, regular check-ins from my Son as well as my extended family and friends. Those are good for me. I have started some initial work at going through many items in the house that will need to be handled in some way. Certainly having lots of times/feelings of loneliness, but that is not necessarily bad. I really don’t want or expect that to ever change when I am thinking about my best friend. Just found these two pictures last night, I had never seen them. They were taken at the Hayes Family Reunion back in 2007. This has been an annual trip to the Midwest for Janelle and me. I am thinking about going again this summer.
Yesterday was a fun day. Up early to participate in a brain tumor awareness walk called Grey Matters. For those of you who did not know, the color Grey is used to represent Brain Tumors. I was not aware that this event was taking place until two very special ladies made sure our local group of supporters knew the details (thank you Marguerite & Kim). We had a good participation level in support of My Janelle. I had decided to wear my “Get Your Head In The Game” shirt, my “I Wear Grey To Support My Wife” hat. Thanks to Kathy and Maria, we also all had very specific items to wear for My Janelle. Here is my outfit including the two stickers that personalized the event.
Below is a link to the pictures of the event for you….they start off with a couple done the night before as my girls (Brittany, Tamra, Ruth) made custom shirts with a “Heart” and a “J”. The event ended with the girls and I enjoying a little brunch at Bricktops with Ian as our server.
Today I went to church. That is difficult but very necessary and good for me. Lots of hugs required for people just checking in with me. I then headed out to the cemetery for a little while. It is 20 miles from church and this will probably be my normal in the months and years ahead. It was a very peaceful and enjoyable time for me.
OK, that is probably enough for this week. My intention is to share with you my weekly journey. I hope you have a great week, I will see you back here next Sunday night.
Ken

Strength and Peace to You ….. Ps. 29:11
Aloha, cannot believe I am the first one here! Do check in periodically to see how you are doing, knowing you'll post on Sundays. Nice to know that you have the daily phone calls and look in from your children. Also good to hear that you are staying active outside your home. . . Church is usually a good place to be at times especially since it meant so much to your Janelle. . . her daily posts with scripture sure were uplifting. I like your addition of Psalms at the end of your posts as well. Take care and know you continue in my prayers. Looking forward to hearing your "twist" on Janelle's posts when the time comes.

Always impressed with your honor and grace. Brings a tear to my eye and to know it would put a smile on Janelle's face.

Hi Ken,
I was climbing Stone Mountain on Saturday with the Girl Scouts and couldn't make the run/walk. I stood on top of the mountain (exhausted and out of breath :)!) and thought of Janelle. I climbed 1255 steps...yes, steps...to get up there and it was worth the hike. Janelle would have said, "Courtney, you're crazy!" and then laughed...

How nice to hear from you, Ken. I'm glad you are keeping up with the blog. I hope you are getting some comfort out of it. You and Janelle are often in my thoughts. Hugs from San Diego.

Happy to read you are keeping busy along with honoring your Janelle. No doubt you have been inundated with cards from friends, family and blogland and pray you find that comforting. Sounds like a trip to the Midwest would be a very positive thing for you to attend your family reunion. Still praying for you and your family ~ take care, Ken!

so happy to hear you have such a large extended family, Ken. That definitely helps during the most difficult times. I watched the service video this week and it was like I was there. Thank you so much for sharing such an intimate time with us. I was so impressed with the music and what your pastor shared about Janelle. My thoughts are with you all and I pray that God continues to fill your hearts with peace.

Keep going, Dear Ken...loved the pictures of the walk. I was in church this morning, raised my hands and sang, "I will run into your arms, Jesus!". Janelle did!! ...and you're surrounding yourself with love...keep going...you are loved. I prayed comfort over you this morning and again tonight, as I read and looked at this sweet video. You are never separated from God's enduring love. Hugs to you.

Dear Ken, it occurs to me that you are still "showing and telling" on the blog. :) Showing us pictures and telling us about life events. I'm sure your best friend would love to know that you are finding more special smiles to enjoy in unknown pictures. Thinking of you.
