This card was inspired by this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge #42, issued on Jennifer Styles' blog: to create a one layer card using music as a theme. I have a friend whose birthday is coming up later this week, so this card will be winging its way to her. She's a busy kindergarten teacher who I'm pretty sure doesn't read my blog, so I think it'll be OK to post it early. :)
SHOW
I probably should have changed the sentiment to read "a happy birthday to you, sweet friend" because she is a real sweetie. We were having an afterschool snack together at the mall the week before I went to Raleigh to do bridesmaid stuff with the girls and she purchased something from Britt's registry for me to take along...
the toasting flutes from her crystal pattern. So pretty. As you can see, my champagne-lovin' girl was quite excited.
AND TELL: stamps are from Papertrey Ink (Background Basics: Sheet Music, Little Bitty Bird); cardstock is PTI (Stampers Select White); ink is Stampin' Up (Tempting Turquoise) and Memento (Tuxedo Black); also used SU markers (Real Red, Yoyo Yellow, Basic Black) and a Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pen (clear).
We're supposed to get some big thunderstorms tonight, so I thought I'd better post before making dinner — just in case the storms begin soon and power gets knocked out or something. haha. Dinner can be cold sandwiches, but the blog post must go on. :) (Just kidding, Ken... I'll make sure you get a hot meal!)
Thanks so much for stopping by tonight — your visits always mean a lot to me! See you again soon.
Britt is so beautiful...looks like her Mommy...sorry about that Ken...still miss the neighborhood evenings in Charlotte...

Hi Janelle,
This card is just too cute. That little bird is adorable!!
Your daughter is beautiful--she looks sooo happy. What an exciting time in her life--and yours too :)
We had bad storms last night--not a good night for sleeping between the thunder, lightening, and two dogs who were so frightened they wanted to sleep right on top of us!! Off to bed early tonight just wanted to say Hi and another adorable card!!
xoxo

Really adorable card. And I like how the sentiment turned out - sweetness any way you look at it. Beautiful crystal.

Very nice card! I do hope you're not trying to get over your fear of birds by passing it on to others. I saw the weather forecast for your area. I hope you guys make it through the night without any problems. Take care!

You may notice that I'm getting all confused and commenting on the wrong posts! Old ladies need their sleep! I love the OLW card with that pretty bird on the music score.
