Leading up to Valentine's Day, center time in 4D started to include lots of heart activities.
The math center held a number sequencing and matching activity using playing cards.
Another activity included rolling a die four times and counting out the corresponding number of conversation hearts for each roll.
One die was the traditional sort,
and the other had a numeral on each side
so the children were working on both the recognition of the actual numerals and one-to-one correspondence by counting the dots (and the hearts).
They also decorated paper bags to hold the Valentine cards that their friends would be bringing for them.
First they used red paint and heart shaped sponges,
and filled in between the hearts with a red bingo marker.
On Valentine's Day, they were greeted by streamers on their classroom doorway.
They distributed their Valentine cards,
played games and had a special snack. A fun day for everyone!
