Thanksgiving Feast: 2B T/Th

 
The Tuesday/Thursday 2B class made placemats

 
and had a Thanksgiving Feast

 
where they ate some healthy food, but made sure to save room for the most exciting part...

 
the cookie dessert. :)

Decorating Mini Pumpkins: 2B Tuesday, Thursday

It is so fun to watch the different ways children approach the same task.

For instance, each child was given a handful of pre-cut pieces of yarn to use as hair for the little pumpkins.

Some of the kids were one-strand-at-a-timers...

 

 
persevering to near perfection...

 

 
Others were glob-it-all-on-ers...

 
opting instead for the quick get to the table and get this done technique.

 
After adding the eyes,

 
nose,

 
and mouth,

 
their little pumpkin heads were complete.

Dressing Up: 2B MWF and 2B TTh

The older two year olds have been enjoying dressing up.

 
At this age,

 
anything can become an item for dress-up...

 
like a cheerleader dress with a baby doll outfit hat/mask (?!)

 
When you're two years old, dressing up doesn't necessarily involve pretending to be someone or something else. Sometimes it means just...

 
pulling it all out and piling on as much as you can.

And then, after you have a little help getting it all off,

 
finding someone else to layer it all back onto.

Pumpkin Carving: 2B Tuesday/Thursday

Thursday, October 28, was pumpkin carving day.

 
Generally speaking, the girls were very into it.

 
The boys?

 
Um...

 
Not so much.

Parallel Play: 2B TTh

Before young children really learn to play together,

 
they engage in what is commonly referred to as...

 
parallel play.

 
Instead of playing pretend games together, they play in their own little worlds alongside each other...

 
sometimes noticing how another is playing and then adjusting their play accordingly. This type of play is common throughout the preschool years and will remain even as more sophisticated types of play begin to emerge.

 

First Thursday of School: 2B

The 2B children continued to be happy and to make new discoveries; like...

school has puzzles that are fun to put together (over and over again!) and...

a painted thumb can make a stem for a palm-print apple. 

First Tuesday of School: 2B

Snack time in 2B today was a time to learn about only eating from your own napkin, learning to say please when asking for more, staying in your chair until snack time is over... and they all did beautifully. It was a good first day!
