... he came to visit for One Layer Wednesday 35. The challenge was issued on Susan Raihala's blog: use yellow — make it your dominant color. Something happy for winter.
SHOW
I used basically the same layout that Susan used on her card. Guess I was inspired not just by the challenge, but by her execution of it, too. Why mess with something that works?
AND TELL: stamps are from Unity (October 2010 Kit of the Month {take time to laugh...}) and Papertrey Ink (Little Bitty Bird); cardstock is PTI (Stampers Select White); ink is Memento (Tuxedo Black); baker's twine is from The Twinery (Lemondrop); coloring done with Copics (Y32, Y35, B21).
So, here's my last One-Layer Wednesday entry in this round of catching up... for OLW30 from Jennifer Styles, to be inspired by the cards on this site. To the right is the hanging ornaments card that I used as my inspiration. (Imagine it turned horizontally...)
And, here is my card. Mine needed to be a birthday card, so instead of Christmas ornaments, my images are flowers. And, instead of using lots of colors, I made mine more monochromatic. And I flipped the design, too. Can't have flowers growing from the sky, now can we?
SHOW
I made two of these and they went in with the Birthday Calendars that we gave to our moms for Christmas. (Here, if you haven't seen them.)
AND TELL: stamps are from Papertrey Ink (Boxes, Bags, & Tags, Floral Fusion); cardstock is PTI (Stampers Select White); ink is Stampin' Up (Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo) and PTI (True Black); also used SU's Stampin' Write marker in Basic Black.
So... happiness is waking up to the early morning news anchorman saying, "The schools are closed today." Of course, I also woke up to the dog barking incessantly — and Ken ignoring her. So I went downstairs to let her out (which she was very happy about, even if there was snow covering her usual spot). When I let her back in she wanted her food. After that I really tried to go back to sleep, but it just didn't work out. So much for rolling over and snoozing another hour or two. (Now I think I need a nap!)
And I really, really may need a nap because tonight is the national championship college football game — Auburn vs. Oregon.
I'll definitely be watching. And we have an interesting scenario on our street...
three doors to our right...
they have a daughter at Auburn (nothing like a little tuition-paying to develop your loyalty to a team!)...
and our neighbors to the left...
Ken thought I should declare my allegiance and bought me a (very large) t-shirt for Christmas...
haha :) Can you read mirror-image? (I LOVE MY DUCKS) And, can you believe that I took about 8 pictures of myself in the mirror before I realized that since I was taking a picture in the mirror the words would be backwards? Geesh. Once a blonde always a blonde, I guess.
And, in case you haven't seen the video that inspired the shirt, here is this year's version, Return of the Quack (courtesy of YouTube):
So, we'll be cheering the Ducks tonight with our neighbors to the left. And, I'm quite sure there won't be any school tomorrow either, so staying up until the end of the game should be possible (that is if I can actually stay awake until the end of the game...).
Thanks so much for stopping by and spending a bit of time here with me. Hope to see you again tomorrow.
GO DUCKS!
