Today is Monday, February 20 — Presidents Day. Do you remember when there was no Presidents Day? Instead there was Lincoln's Birthday (I think on the 12th) and Washington's Birthday (which I think was the 22nd). My dad's birthday was February 21st. I remember my mom baking him a cherry pie one year and cutting a vent in the shape of a hatchet in the top crust — you know, because of Washington chopping down the cherry tree. Funny the things we remember, isn't it?
Here is some scripture for today.
Psalm 37:39-40
"The Lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble. The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him."
Once again, a rescue verse. Who knew there were so many of those in the Bible? Who knew they would speak so completely to me?
The Lord rescues. The Lord is a fortress in times of trouble. The Lord helps His people. He saves them. He shelters them. And don't we all need a little rescuing, a little help, a little sheltering from time to time?
This is a special card for a special friend on a special birthday.
SHOW
You know that I almost always sign my cards. That seems to have gotten a little more difficult since the brain tumor. Sometimes I make mistakes that I have to try to fix. Sometimes I'm not too successful, but you know how I feel about do-overs. I don't do them. :)
AND TELL: stamps are from Papertrey Ink (Sending You); cardstock is PTI (Stampers Select White); ink is Stampin' Up (Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Real Red), Memento (Tuxedo Black), and VersaMark; embossing powder is Zing (Aqua, Rouge); also used PTI impression plate (Background Basics: Diamond), Stampin' Up Sizzlet (Lots of Tags Label 1), and a Corner Chomper.
Remember before Thankgiving when I showed you the glass globes that I bought at Pottery Barn? First we put clear lights in them and later, around Valentine's Day, we changed the lights to pink. I didn't get a picture of that, but one day I came home and Ken had put red lights in the balls.
Wow! Now those make an impact! Kind of like little balls of fire.
That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me. I plan to be back again tomorrow. Wednesday is an infusion day so if you wouldn't mind praying about that I'd be so grateful. "See" you tomorrow!
I know that you are really enjoying those little decorative balls. It's fun to see how many different ways you can use them.
Doug and I will be praying for you on Wednesday -- as we do every day -- but with extra prayers on Wednesday!!!
Love, Patsy

Janelle, your card is beautiful and so are those glass globes with the red lights radiating. Will say an extra prayer for you Wednesday that your chemo treatment goes well, and that you'll feel just fine. Sure hope my prayers are answered. Take care and hugs to you!

Praying that your infusion goes well and you have a great week. I love what you said about do-overs and how you don't do them! I love your attitude. I learn so much from you. Thank you Janelle!

Love your birthday card and the glass
globes. Would love to see them in the "day"
light with the lights turned off. Praying
for a smooth-going infusion day and a calm
tummy afterward for you.

It seems to me that you're a little young to be talking about remembering when we celebrated the presidents' birthdays separately. But to answer you question, yes, I do remember. Love your card - so cheery and bright and pretty. Thanks for the reminder about infusion day - you get extra prayers that day. :0) Those glass balls are really pretty. Fun to change with the seasons, too. Love you. Hugs and prayers.

Wonderful birthday card. You are reminding me how beautiful Sending You is, and how I have neglected that set. Love your colors. Hugs from San Diego.

Goodness gracious great balls of fire! First thing I thought of when I saw that picture. :)
I know I haven't been around at all but I think of you often. Big hugs.
