Today is Friday, November 11. Since it is Veteran's Day and the public schools were out, we got to see many of our former students when the parents brought the little ones to school. That is always fun — to see how the kids are growing beyond their preschool years. And, of course, I love those hugs that I get from them, too!
My first big excitement of the day was that I wore my contacts for the first time since August 1. At least, it was exciting until I got to work and found that when I tried to read I couldn't decipher a single thing due to, I suppose, a change in the bifocal portion of my vision prescription. Kind of up a damper on my ability to get things done! haha! Still, I did what I could and ended up being there until noon or so again. So, praise the Lord!, I was able to get to work all five days this week! For next week, the plan is to be there on Monday and then on Tuesday I have my second chemo session at the infusion center. Hopefully, it will go as well as the first and I'll be back to work at least by the end of the week.
As I was going through some photos on my phone, I realized that I didn't post any of my now five year old neighbor's family birthday celebration that took place way back in early October. We have the very best next door neighbors and they are always so good about including us in their family events. Gosh, we love that family! Anyway, here are two of the party-ers...
big sister Chloe and little brother Hayden... eagerly awaiting the presents and the cake. (Must've been "hat day"... :) )
And, here's the birthday girl, Nora Grace, sporting her birthday crown from school.
Cute cake that my neighbors made, isn't it? Perfect for the mermaid lovin' birthday girl!
But, I really, really love this picture...
Maybe I should get a pink wig, too. I think it really makes a great statement on Nora! :)
Here is a bit of scripture for you today.
Psalm 109:21
"But deal well with me, O Sovereign Lord, for the sake of your own reputation! Rescue me because you are so faithful and good."
I'm so fortunate. The Lord has been extraordinarily good to me and I pray that you have seen that, too. I pray that through my situation His reputation has only been enhanced and magnified in your life. He is so faithful and so good!
Hope you're not tired of bookmarks yet, because here are a couple more.
SHOW
Two more little tokens for the kind folk who are making sure we're well-fed. :)
AND TELL: stamps are from Verve (Artful Elegance, Psalm 46:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18); cardstock is Papertrey Ink (Stampers Select White); ink is Stampin' Up (Baja Breeze, Lovely Lilac, Elegant Eggplant) and PTI (True Black); also used an SU die (Two Tags).
That's about it for today. However, I do have one more bit of "excitement". As I was writing this post I decided to take a little break to go for a walk and I made it all the way to the end of our street and back. Ken tells me that's about four-tenths of a mile. Woohoo for me!
And here is how our street is looking today.
I just love the colors of autumn. When I was younger, spring was my favorite season and I loved all the pinks and purples of the flowering trees. As I've gotten older, though, I find myself much more inspired by the oranges, yellows, and reds of the fall. I've seen some really pretty trees as we've driven to work and back this week, but didn't think to take pictures... so this may be my one and only fall leaves photo of the year. Not the most vibrant colors and not the best trees I've seen, but still a memento of Autumn 2011.
Hope you have had a fabulous week and that your weekend is looking to be full of fun. Our pastor's daughter is getting married tomorrow and we're looking forward to helping them celebrate the blessed event, so that's what we'll be doing in the early afternoon. What about you? Do you have great weekend plans? Let me know... I'm always up for a vicarious experience. :) And thanks so much for stopping by for a visit with me... I do so enjoy your company and am sending big hugs your way!
So beautiful the leaves! My favorite time of year... tomorrow Sarah and I are having a mom and daughter day - lunch and shopping and who knows what else... I can't wait... have a wonderful weekend, Janelle -- (and Ken too, of course).. love you janis

So glad you made it the whole week at work AND were able to walk all the way to the end of the street! It's always good to have you at school. Our excitement for the weekend is that we are meeting the children and grandchildren at the NC zoo tomorrow to celebrate my birthday. Remember, I told you I like to celebrate for the whole month -- and this is a little over a month. Hopefully it won't be too cold for our time at the zoo AND picnic!
Sending our love,

I am so glad you have been able to get back to work this week, I imagine adding normal routine things back into your day would be uplifting.
Although it is Spring here we are really starting to feel Summer coming on, our days are starting to get quite hot and humid.
We don't get a true Fall/autumn here so I love seeing the photo of your street in its muted autumn colours :)
Have a wonderful weekend Janelle.

We are having a missions conference at church with several of our missionaries that we support sharing their ministry with us. We have a family staying with us for the weekend. They are missionaries in Africa. It will be so wonderful to hear about the Lord's work all over the globe. I'm also very excited about what the Lord is doing on Planters Walk.
I love you.

Congrats, Janelle, on making it to work the
whole week! woohoo! I, too, love the colos of
fall, but find it depressing as well knowing
that winter is not far behind. Why is it that
spring, summer and fall are three months long
and winter is six??? At least it seems that
way up here in the north country. As for the
weekend...good and not so good. Saturday we
are going to visit my husband's older daughter
and husband and go out to lunch...yea! It's
a trip of about an hour and a quarter, so we
should see some pretty fall color on the way.
Sunday, unfortunately, we have a funeral to
attend....never a pleasant activity. Wishing
you a good weekend and sending prayers that
your second chemo infusion will go as well as the first!

Love the photos of little Nora's party Janelle but I think you have to remember that when you're 5 it's easy to get away with a pink wig! You sound as if you've had a great week and I hope the weekend goes well too. We'll be preparing for my daughter's 16th birthday next week today, and attending our remembrance service on Sunday. I'll ook forward to hearing about your weekend next week.

Janelle, the photo of your street struck such a chord with me! We're way past peak leaves way up here in Ohio, and that picture brought back wonderful memories of my hometown!
Blessings to you this weekend. You don't want to live vicariously through me this weekend because I'm frantically trying to get my house ready to sell. OY!
Your bookmarks have all been fab! I need to make some this season, too. You're giving me ideas.... ;)

So glad you've been able to do all of these things. Love the pink wig. I, too, love your bookmarks and am thinking of making some. I need to invest in some of those Verve stamps. Hugs and prayers for you from me. Love you.

LOL We are hopefully moving some of my teaching boxes into the new house. We hope to move in 2-3 weeks...can't wait!

WOW ~ working all week, Janelle, that's fabulous. It's called progress and we all love that. Great pics from the pink wig to the mermaid cake to the beautiful fall foliage. Thursday night we went to watch a friend's granddaughter (HS junior) play powder puff football. It was chilly even though we felt we dressed appropriately. Saturday night we're watching another friends granddaughter (11 yo) act in the play "Sleeping Beauty." Always enjoy seeing something different. Tomorrow we're helping a German friend celebrate him recently becoming a US citizen. This is a new experience for us but looking forward to it. Of course, I had to make him a special card! Make it a great Sunday, Janelle!

Janelle...thought you'd get a kick out of knowing that it was Nick's 21st birthday today! He came home from college this past weekend with about 7 friends to help him celebrate (and eat us out of house and home!) At one point, it was fun to see him and his friends, even tho' they are practically grown men, playing like kids in the basement, having a game of pool and hide-and-go-seek in the dark. Not how many spend their 21st birthdays, I'm guessing.
