You know that I like to do Natasha's card sketches from Clean and Simple Stamping — and maybe you noticed that I've gotten behind on them. Again. And just when I'd gotten caught up, too. Sigh. Such is life with me.
The first card is for last week's sketch, FTL106.
SHOW
I flipped the sketch so that the tea could pour into the cup — and I'm liking this card very much. It was inspired by a little kitchen towel that my mom gave me when I visited this summer.
Mom's church does a pretty cool thing. The widows in the church have secret sisters who give them little goodies throughout the year. Mom's "secret" had made her a towel like this earlier in the year and mom sent her a note through the church office (because the "secrets" are never revealed) to ask if she could buy one like it for me. Sweet, huh? Each year the "secrets" change, but whoever pulls my mom's name is lucky indeed — because my mom likes to write thank yous and give little gifts to her "secret" in return. So with my mom it's a mutual exchange — and I'm sure will continue to be as long as she's able. She loves getting the little surprises — whatever they may be. It's special just to be thought of and prayed for, you know?
AND TELL: stamps are from Papertrey Ink (Tea for Two, Tea for Two Additions, Fancy Flourishes, Damask Designs); cardstock is PTI (Stampers Select White, Spring Rain); ink is PTI (Enchanted Evening) and Stampin' Up (Basic Gray, Going Grey); also used PTI's Picnic Plaid Impression Plate and Tea Pot and Tea Cup Dies.
And since I'm catching up... again... this card is for FTL99.
SHOW
Sometimes I'm just in the mood to make a Christmas card, I guess. AND TELL: stamps are from Papertrey Ink (Take Note, Tree Trimming Trio); cardstock is PTI (Stampers Select White) and Stampin' Up (Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise); patterned paper is a scrap from my stash; ink is from SU (Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point) and PTI (Simply Chartreuse); buttons are PTI (Simply Chartreuse); also used an EK Success border punch.
This has been a busy week — a week with little time left for anything other than the basic survival activities... you know, eating, sleeping, and some mindless TV. Hopefully I'll get some time to make something soon because I'm fresh out of crafty things to post. And when I don't have time for crafty pursuits I feel a little disjointed and out of sorts.
I was thinking that I would just stop showing you Oregon pictures, but I'm almost to the end so I'll do a few more from my vacation out there.
The town where my mom lives has summertime concerts in the park. Mom and my dad's cousin go to at least one a week. They take their lawn chairs, a cooler with drinks, and buy their dinner at the stand in the park. You can get a yummy Asian Salad with Chicken.
And, of course, I can't pass up a cookie. :)
The people gather, eat their dinners, do some reading...
catch up on the news (either in the paper or from their neighbors)...
and maybe do a little crocheting...
The night we were there the Corvallis Community Band performed. And they had some featured performers along with them. This guy played the straight horn...
These singers performed some show tunes along with the band...
And this young lady had just won a national, I think, Scottish fiddling competition...
She and her guitar-playing friend looked like they were having so much fun...
and their music was wonderful.
It did get a little cold as the evening wore on.
Picnic blankets became lap blankets and people pulled out their sweatshirts, coats, and hats...
or plastic bags. Yes, necessity is the mother of invention, and sometimes you just do what you gotta do. Good thing this guy had a large bag because I don't think a medium would have fit. haha.
Sigh. I can hardly remember what it's like to be cold. We've had day upon day of 90 plus degree weather this summer. And it's continuing well into September. Yuck. Of course, before long I'll probably be saying something like, "I can't remember what it's like to be warm." haha. Never satisfied. :)
That's all for now. I'm gonna go see if I can do something inky so I have a bit to share tomorrow. Have a great evening — and thank you so much for stopping by!
Miss J, Thanks for bringing a smile to the end of my day again!

Beautiful cards. Love how you positioned the teapot and teacup. I'll miss hearing about your adventures - I've enjoyed them very much. It's finally beginning to cool down here. The heat really wears on a person.

Your teacup card reminds me of that classic blue and white china, and I love the unusual colourway for your Christmas card. Your mum's church widows secret idea is brilliant - what a special thing to do! Thanks for sharing your Oregon photos. It looks such fun!
