for a little froo-froo?
SHOW
This card came together last night and this afternoon using Kazan's Sketch 53 from 2 Sketches 4 You. I took more liberties with the sketch than I usually do — but, hey, that's OK, right? It still was my inspiration. Most of the components had been cut from scraps a few weeks ago when I was low on ideas and energy but needing something creative, yet mindless, to do. I ran a basting stitch down the center of the folded-over tulle ribbon and secured it with tape on the back of the patterned paper at the top and bottom. All the edges were lightly inked with PTI's Tea Dye Duo with the exception of one — the bottom edge of the music. But — look at it. That is natural aging that has taken place in the 70+ years (!) since the music was printed. I was really amazed at how closely the coloring resembled the dye inks.
Speaking of music, I still have quite a bit left — but, thankfully, it's all contained in two boxes now, rather than two boxes and a pile or two. If you are interested in some sacred sheet music for your papercrafting needs, read this previous post for details (scroll to the bottom), and let me know. None of it is as old or "vintage" looking at what I used here, but it's still fun to use for backgrounds, borders, flowers, etc. Eventually I'm going to have to get rid of what's left and I'd much rather share it with you! :)
AND TELL: stamp is from Papertrey Ink (Floral Fusion); cardstock is Stampin' Up (Confetti Cream); patterned paper is PTI (Bitty Dot Basics in Aqua Mist) and I think an older pattern from Prima; ink is PTI (Dark Chocolate); button and twine are PTI (Aqua Mist; Rustic Cream); tulle is from Michael's; also used SU's dies (Beautiful Butterflies, Top Note), a Martha Stewart butterfly punch, self-adhesive pearls from my stash, and vintage sheet music.
Today was our last day at preschool — a teacher work day. Yesterday was our last day with the kids. So — the 2009-2010 school year is now in the record books. Whew.
We have fabulously supportive parents and a teacher appreciation committee that provides lunch for us on our last teacher work day. This year's crew really knocked themselves out with a themed invitation
decorations, and even a CD of Hawaiian music playing.
Delicious food
was served buffet style. The water and lemonade even had little parasol straws, plus glittery stickers on the cups. So festive!
Each teacher was given a lei as she entered the luncheon area.
And, I can tell you, that we all felt loved and appreciated. And very full. :)
Now that school is out, I think I'll be posting more regularly. I did make a little time to do some creative things over the past couple of weeks that I haven't posted yet, so I'll do some catching up and get back in the posting groove soon. Thanks for hanging in there with me and thanks for visiting today! See you again soon.
I'm LOVING the "froo-froo"!! Beautiful, soft colors, too.

How did you even think to do the tulle like that? It's fabulous! I love reading about all the lovely things you do at school. This Hawaiian themed lunch is a great idea - I feel it's time to startle my friends!
