Did you think I'd forgotten you? That would never happen!
First of all, there was the disappointment over the Panther loss on Sunday. (More on that later.) Then, since it was such a busy weekend I didn't get much creative time — thus, not a lot to share this week.
However, today was our monthly prayer breakfast at school. Typically three people bring some sort of breakfast item to share then someone gives a devotional and we finish with a prayer time. I had decided during the summer that I'd like to make a little something to give to the staff members that attend (they're not required to). I found my inspiration last week in this post on Michelle Wooderson's blog.
SHOW
Each prayer breakfast this year will feature a devotional on a different Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22, 23). These are little folders to hold 3-1/2" x 5" cards that will be given out each month.
Each card will feature a different fruit. This month's fruit is kindness. Our focus verse is Ephesians 4:32 — "Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another; even as God in Christ forgave you."
After taking this picture, I wrote the scripture reference on the card, leaving the rest of the card blank for the staff members to add their own verses, quotes, and impressions on kindness.
The folder is made from two envelopes, the flap of one slid inside the opening of the other. Since the nine cards will be quite thick, I didn't slide the two envelopes together completely. There is about 3/8" between the tops. That should leave enough room for four cards to slip into one side and five into the other. If I wasn't such a last minute person I would have fancied up the inside, too. Instead, I left it plain (but functional!).
Much to my frustration, I don't always think things all the way through before I start them... Here's an example. I stamped our school's initials and the year on the back, then decided to add the cherries — forgetting that I was going to attach a ribbon to the back that would wrap around and tie on the side. If I had put two and two together, I would have stamped the cherries higher. But since they ended up where they did, I just wrapped the ribbon around instead of attaching it to the folder. Oh, well. When you do things at the last minute, you just don't have time to make corrections.
AND TELL: stamps are from Papertrey Ink (Everyday Button Bits, Polka Dot Basics, Fresh Alphabet, 2009 Autumn Tags, Everyday Classics, Teacher's Apple); cardstock is PTI (Kraft); ink is PTI (Vintage Cream, New Leaf, Dark Chocolate, Spring Moss) and Stampin' Up (Real Red, Pink Priouette); buttons are PTI (Pure Poppy); ribbon is PTI (Vintage Cream grosgrain, New Leaf satin, Vintage Cream saddle stitch, Summer Sunrise satin); also used envelopes and flat notecards purchased on deep clearance a year or so ago.
Now — onto the football game. Ugh. It was miserable. The worst game I remember attending. Not only did we play terrible, really terrible, it was also blazing hot. Our seats are in the sun the entire game this time of year. I was sweating like a pig.
And, I have this silly rule. I won't leave until the clock reads 0:00. Leaving early seems disloyal and rude. Most people, however, don't seem to feel that way. Look at all those empty seats.
In fact, by the end of the game, there were very few Panthers fans left. The stadium had been taken over by the Eagles.
It was humiliating. Embarrassing. Miserable.
Oh, well. It's just a game. Right?
I have a feeling my posting may be rather sporadic for awhile. There's a lot going on right now. I do appreciate every one of you who drops by to see what is for show and tell. Many of you leave such sweet (and kind!) comments and I always enjoy reading what you have to say. I'll be back as soon and as often as I can. Thanks for spending a little time with me today!
These are very creative and cute!!! And what an excellent idea to share them at your prayer group :) Thanks for stopping by my little corner of blog world and leaving such sweet comment :)

What sweet folders. What a nice gesture. I feel the same way about leaving a game.

These are really cute Janelle! I actually love hearing that I'm not the only one that doesn't think far enough ahead on a project :). I've certainly been there. But this is just so sweet, and I'm sure everyone loved them!
