This Saturday is the monthly card swap/stamp club that I attend. In July we do something a little different. Each person stamps an image they've found particularly challenging or need new ideas for, and gives a copy to each other member. (We did that in April.) After this coming meeting, each of us will take home multiple samples of our stamp.
I wasn't really planning to show these, but since they seem to be consuming my week, I've decided to go ahead and share. For this image I took on the Card-A-Licious 24 challenge — to make a baby card using ribbon and stitching. This is the image as it was given to me:
Here is how I used it:
SHOW
I knew this image would be perfect for paper piecing. The challenge was that I didn't have the stamp. So after lots of tracing, cutting, trimming, checking the fit, and trimming some more, I got it looking semi-decent. Whew, though. That's a tough way to paper piece. To help make everything look better and disguise any bad cutting I had done, I used colored pencils under the area where the decorative paper would be glued. I also used a colored pencil for the pink trim at the head and foot of the cradle and for the rockers. Oh, and for the bird's tail, too.
AND TELL: the source of the main stamp image is unknown to me, the sentiment is Papertrey Ink (Mixed Messages); cardstock is Stampin' Up (Certainly Celery); pink printed stripe is from my favorite Heidi Swapp, all others are random scraps; flower gemstone is K&Company; embroidery floss (2 colors of blue-gray) and ribbon are from my stash; tools used include a Classic Square Nestability, Creative Memories Corner Rounder, Boho Blossoms and 3/4" circle punches by Stampin' Up, and flourish stitching template from Bazzill.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope to have more to share tomorrow. Until then...
this is darling
